Oath of Intention made in Thomas County for Jacob Hirschinger, November 2, 1868. Hirschinger appeared at the County Courthouse in Thomasville with two witnesses, Jonas Schiff and Jacob Kubitshek, in order to make an oath of his intention to become a citizen of the United States of America. It notes Hirschinger was born and raised in Bavaria, Germany; that he is 29 years old; and that he renounces all allegiance to the Bavarian king. It also notes he arrived in New York May 28, 1866. Signed by T.N. Hopkins, Deputy Clerk. Hershinger, Schiff, and Kubitshek were all members of Thomasville's small Jewish community, and were business partners at various points in their careers. |
