Naturalization papers for Jonas Schiff, 1856 & 1858. Certificate of Intention to become a United States citizen. New York City, March 15, 1856. Schiff immigrated from Germany, and swore to drop all allegiance to the King of Prussia. Statements from the Superior Court of Thomas County, June 10, 1858, admitting Jonas Schiff as a United States citizen. Signed by Arthur P. Wright. Also a signed oath swearing allegiance to the United States, and a witness statement by Alex Allen that Schiff is worthy of citizenship. Jonas Schiff was one of the first Jewish persons to live in Thomasville. All papers are bound together with an adhesive at the top. |
