Abercrombie Family Bible |
Summary |
The Captain James Abercrombie family Bible published by Silas Andrus of Hartford, Connectictut, 1835. Abercrombie and family are from Russell County, Alabama, connecting to Thomasville through their grand-daughter Sally Wright, who married Samuel Laird Hayes, who are the parents of Louise Hayes, and eventually the Mallette family of Thomasville. James Abercrombie's father Charles Abercrombie was in the American Army during the Revolutionary War. James Abercrombie served in the United States Army during the War of 1812, and later was a United States Representitive from Alabama as a member of the Whig party from 1850-1858. There are several additional pages of genealogy added into the Bible by Louise Hayes, and a Civil War letter from Confederate General Braxton Bragg sent to a Davis in 1861 taped to the front page of the Bible; there are also several references to General Clanton and Clanton's Brigade. |
