Description |
Regulator clock, 54" long by 16" wide by 6" deep. Powered by a windup mechanism using a 3 lb. weight. The front is glass, as are the side panels. On the front in gold leaf is written; "Louis H. Jerger, Jeweler 130 So Broad". Joseph was a native of Baden, Germany and founded the first jewelry store in Thomasville. His son, Louis H. Jerger, took over the business on March 2, 1897. He had a clock relettered at that time. The clock was used by Louis H. Jerger to regulate the watches of the railroad. He had to certify that they would not lose more than 5 seconds per day. |
